Janet Thibeau: President and Founder

Janet manages our advocacy and coaching services and is extremely active in special education. In 2014 she was featured on National Public Radio as part of their series Brain Matters, Reporting from the Front Lines of Neuroscience and has appeared on Boston’s NPR affiliate station, speaking about dyslexia. She is a member of the board of directors of MABIDA: the Massachusetts Branch of the International Dyslexia Association. She is a past member of the boards of the Massachusetts Sibling Support Network and the Special Needs Advocacy Network (SPaN). She has presented at national and regional conferences, and she regularly presents to parent groups.

Janet founded Barlow Thibeau & Associates in 1992 to deliver education services to her clients. In 2006, she added advocacy services to her offerings and has been successfully securing her clients the services they need ever since. Many of her earliest advocacy clients are still with her today. In 2012 she expanded her services to include family coaching, and in 2014, when her husband Jim joined the company, they rebranded Barlow Thibeau & Associates as BTA Education.

Prior to founding Barlow Thibeau & Associates, Janet worked as a corporate trainer and consultant, delivering education services to Fortune 500 companies in North America and Europe. She has a Bachelor of Arts in both history and economics from Marietta College. She is certified as a parent advocate through the Federation of Children with Special Needs' Parent Advocate Program, and she is certified as a professional coach through the University of New Hampshire.
